New Coaches Announced
After weeks of anticipation, eight of the nine staff positions have officially been filled. The ninth position (running backs coach) is unofficially filled. That coach that will be announced in the first two weeks of January after completing his current school’s bowl game. There is some speculation out there as to who this coach may be. No matter who it is, it’s undeniable what type of staff Bo is trying to put together for next year. Visit Huskers.com for the Staff Bio’s and official announcement.
Bo Knows Football
The Nebraska Cornhusker’s new coach is Bo Pelini. Let’s say it again now, with feeling. The Nebraska Cornhusker’s new coach is Bo Pelini. Whew. It really feels like exciting times are upon us right now. Pelini’s football history has been filled with success under the tutelage some of history’s greatest coaches. Having Dr. Tom Osborne around will draw some additional greatness out of Bo.
Callahan Focus Finally on Defense

Unfortunately, Callahan’s new focus on defense is the type that won’t win him games. In yesterday’s Big 12 Teleconference he spent 5 out of his 10 minutes available avoiding a simple question. He was asked multiple times in multiple ways, if you are a 6-6 team, what makes you deserving of a bowl opportunity over other teams with the same record?
What If Bill Callahan Stays?
In what is turning out the be the biggest split in Husker history, the Bill Callahan era appears to be drawing to a close - or so it seems. As a man of his word, Dr. Tom Osborne has now said multiple times that he intends to meet with the current coaching staff the day after the Colorado game. If you think that the 5 loss streak during “Black October” caused an uproar, what do you think will happen if Dr. Osborne decides not to request the removal of Callahan?
Embarrassed About Husker Win
I despise Kansas State as much as the next Husker, but I was actually pretty embarrassed by the Husker Smack Down of Kansas State yesterday for three reasons:
- Defense quit in the fourth quarter
- Callahan blatantly ran up the score
- Callahan ducks out after the handshake
No More Rumors!
Fans are praying for the firing of Bill Callahan and the hiring of someone like Bo Pelini, Turner Gill, or Navy’s Paul Johnson. Hoping for something is one thing, deliberately passing misinformation is another. For those of you out in cyberspace passing around emails like the one from “Mick Richards” saying they know a guy, who knows a guy, who is neighbors with someone who works with Dr. Tom Osborne: PLEASE STOP.
