More Kansas State Musings
Maybe I misunderstand the definition of running up the score. 52-10 is a pretty big score already, so going for it on 4th and 20 instead of punting, is what, brilliant? Would Bill Callahan still make that call instead of punting if he were down by 2 with 8 minutes left in the game - when field position is ever important? Oh wait, I know - leaving your first string running back in to go for it on a 4th and goal with 4 minutes left while you’re up by 42 points is just for an emotional lift on Senior Day.
Embarrassed About Husker Win
I despise Kansas State as much as the next Husker, but I was actually pretty embarrassed by the Husker Smack Down of Kansas State yesterday for three reasons:
- Defense quit in the fourth quarter
- Callahan blatantly ran up the score
- Callahan ducks out after the handshake
Ron Prince Worried About Huskers?
Ron Prince has sounded someone concerned about his team playing Nebraska this upcoming Saturday. Without his Senior Nose Tackle, ever important in the 3-4, I can see why. Marlon Lucky and his backup cast of seemingly thousands loves to run out in the open or up the middle. Get Cody Glenn and Quentin Castille to pound the limited D-line and then open up with some screens and draws to Lucky or Helo. If K State tries to stop them with 7 in the box, they just may be surprised. This team was shocked a little by Iowa State, and never woke up.
