Mizzou and KU - Real Deal in 2008
Since the college football season ended, I’ve been saying that Mizzou will falter while we find that KU will take a downhill slide to mediocre-ville. Wishful thinking, really. Once I looked at the situation surrounding these programs, I see no reason that the Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks will not have 9+ win seasons and significant bowl games.
AT&T Cotton Bowl
The most exciting game played before 5pm during the whole bowl season. No check. Couldn’t even watch the second half.
The Tiger’s potent passing attack led by Heisman runner up Chase Daniel. No check. 136 yards. 1 int.
Arkansas pretty great defense. No check. Tony Temple had 281 yards rushing and four TDs.
Arkansas explosive offense. No check. “Only” 361 yards.
38-7 route nowhere near 35-32 prediction. At least I got Mizzou’s score close!
Big 12: 3-2 in bowl games.
doombob: 4-1 in Big 12 bowl game predictions.
Big XII Championship Matchup
In this year’s Big 12 Championship, we see Missouri and Oklahoma in a rematch of their October 13th battle. These two are not quite the same teams that we saw earlier this season. Missouri is gaining confidence as they head towards a battle for the number one spot in the nation. Oklahoma is coming off smashing OK State after a disappointing loss to Texas Tech. The Tigers had a short-lived one point lead in the last game this year before Oklahoma capitalized on the Mizzou mistakes. This time around, we will probably see a game that comes down to a last second drive and score to win.
MU vs. KU matchup
Saturday’s “Arrowhead Armageddon” could turn out to be the second biggest game of the year next to the National Championship. Historically speaking, Missouri and Kansas have rarely reached so high a ranking this late in the season, let alone at the same time. I’ll try to shed a little light on this game’s potential outcome. With a game Vegas is giving only a 2-point advantage to KU, anything can happen.
Husker Down Year Good for Big 12
For years many years, Nebraska was a perennial powerhouse. That day will come again, but right now, Kansas and Missouri football are sitting comfortably atop the Big 12 North. Many Husker fans have always felt there is a media bias against Nebraska in terms of poll numbers and coverage. But really, media and non-Husker fans were bored of hearing the same things about Nebraska every year. What is grabbing everyone’s attention now is the freak show that is the Big 12.
